So here’s the dream I had last night… I’ll title it… uh… “Tweeting to Africa”

As I woke up (in my dream), someone tweeted to me that they were serving breakfast at some place that looked like it was Africa. So from Puerto Rico, I made the genious choice to ask my father if he would buy us tickets there, simply to have some breakfast. So we’re off to Africa… for breakfest. When we get to the place (it just kind of skipped the traveling scenes), everyone is tweeting about what they’re eating and I decide (after going from PUERTO RICO to AFRICA) NOT to eat there because it was fatty food and I didn’t want to break my diet. +1 me. -30 my dad for buying the tickets and having us fly there.

All of a sudden, I get a call on my codec (yes… like the ones in the Metal Gear games) with someone informing me of a mission that involved me killing man that owed some money, so I tell my dad about what I just heard and we seemed to accept the mission. As we casually start walking to the left of the restaurant, all of a sudden we hear a shootout and it’s between a jeep with 3 men wielding machine guns and a cop car. The cops apparently had terrible aim and ended up shooting me on my left arm and my dad in his right leg. We proceed to lay on the ground milking the gun shots Peter Griffin style going “ahhhh… ahhh” and then I proceed to call a cab to take us from AFRICA to PUERTO RICO… without any medical attention just so I can go back to sleep.

7:00-7:30am – Breakfast – Oatmeal (2% milk, splenda) with Water or Light/Diet Juice that’s low on calories and sugar

9:30am-10:30am – Between Meals – Light Yogurt or Fruit (Apple) and Water

11:30am-Noon – Lunch – Baked/Mashed Potatoe(s) with Skinless Chicken (Light on the herbs and spices)

2:00pm-3:00pm – Between Meals – Light Yogurt or Fruit (Apple) and Water

5:00pm-6:00pm – Dinner – Baked/Mashed Potatoe(s) with Skinless Chicken (Light on the herbs and spices)

or Wheat Pasta with Chicken & Tomatoes (No sauce)

- Obviously this has changed since my semester started and am still trying to find a balance while I’m in college. So I shall post about that in the near future -

From visiting Japan to flying to Egypt, everyone always has that “thing” that they want to do in their life. While many like to wait until they are older to fulfill these dreams, I myself think quite the opposite. Beginning to do these things at an earlier stage can be motivational and gives you something to try and do, always have a goal to accomplish in life. I started one of my goals during this summer which was losing weight and am still in the process of doing so. A fellow by the name of Amtrekker once wrote a list of 50 things that he would quickly set out to do, abandoning his home and refusing to return until he checked everything off that list. He completed his goal and I am sure it was an amazing feeling to do so. While I don’t plan take such an “extreme” route, I want to make a list myself. A list of 50 things that I want to do during my time here on the planet we call Earth.

It’s rather difficult to some up with a list that you will hold basically during your whole life, so the task of filling all 50 slots has been quite difficult, almost impossible to say the least! As of this blog post I have a total of 12 things listed. I will gradually update the blog with the additions to the list as I can think of them. Anyone that has any suggestions of things to do is welcome to comment. I am a person that would love to travel anywhere and everywhere. I find great joy in studying different cultures, lifestyles… like I said, everything!

So here’s the list so far:

1. Visit Japan
2. Hug a Panda (Yes, I am aware I might get killed trying to do this one)
3. Pro Wrestle (At least 2 matches)
4. Fight MMA (At least one fight)
5. Voice Act for a game or movie
6. Play by Play – Pro Wrestling
7. Host a weekly video show for no less than a year (Not a Vlog)
8. Host a weekly audio podcast for no less than a year
9. Co-Found a successful entertainment website with steady visitors
10. Write a Book
11. Learn to write/speak Japanese
12. Found an indepentent production company

A couple of these things are already in progress or are slowly in the making. I would really want to have a complete list by the end of the year, or at least have a significant portion of it filled out, so suggest away!

From the moment that Twitter spawned, many people questioned its purpose. What’s it for, and why should I use it? With Facebook being as popular as it is, seeing another social-networking website pop-up seems rather crazy, but if MySpace was taken over by Facebook, can Twitter follow suit?

I’ve been a Twitter user for about a year now, and my experiences using it keep changing over time. At first, I honestly didn’t really know what to do. Why would people care that I’m watching “The Dark Knight” on Blu-Ray? I mostly just followed different websites to stay up-to-date with what’s going on, although there weren’t nearly as many websites on the twitter bandwagon as there are now. As time went on, I began “tweeting” about game-related stuff such as news, deals and whenever we had a video game live stream going on. After a while, I saw other gamers beginning to add me, as well as fellow people from Puerto Rico. That’s where my real journey began.

See, up until that point, it never occurred to me to use Twitter as a way to meet people from this very island. I wasn’t very aware of how much Twitter was being used, so I just started adding one or two puertoricans, but my list soon began to grow. Currently, I would say around 50% of the people I follow on Twitter are from Puerto Rico. Then began the next step: What do I talk about with them? Sure, we share the common fact that we all use Twitter… but what else? So I just began to keep tweeting about what I usually do (Movies, games, random stuff found online) and before I knew I was seeing @EpicJC’s every once in a while (responding to my posts).  So that then evolved to short conversations between random users and that’s when I realized why I loved Twitter. It was the perfect way to meet other people online, no matter where they are, without getting too personal. There doesn’t need to be a “Hi, I’m Juan”. People can look at your past tweets and see how much they have in common with you based on what they post (in 140 characters or less of course).

There are some that say Twitter is “useless” or “a waste of time”, but it’s how you use it that pays off. I’ve now met a couple of very cool people from Puerto Rico and out, and even won tickets to a Transformers 2 premiere, courtesy of @Tecnetico!

The website has become so popular, that you can name almost any celebrity, website, anything… and they are probably on Twitter. It’s opened a door for people to share things with their fans easily. I’m a fan of Pro Wrestling, so I follow wrestlers. I find it fun to watch them tweet about getting ready for matches, hanging out with others wrestlers, it’s like you are behind the scenes.

Will Twitter keep growing? Without a doubt. Will it take over Facebook? I see it as something that will complement each other rather than anything else. With thousands of applications that link Twitter and Facebook together, they make one deadly networking team.

For those that are thinking of giving Twitter a shot, go for it. You can turn it into a way of getting news from hundreds of websites, or use it to meet new friends!
